The most breathtaking Botanical Gardens started as a bare bit of land. The soil was prepared and a plan was developed. Seeds were sown, nurtured and fed. With time, hard work, and patience, that bare bit of land was developed into a beautiful oasis. This portfolio represents my own growth and development as an individual and as a teacher. I started on my journey towards education in High School. Teaching seemed like a natural profession for me. The path became even more clear when I became a mother. My children are my greatest teachers, and play a directing role in the development of my personal garden. I began working in a Montessori school where my children attend. Very quickly, that “job” became a pivotal point for me. I embraced the Montessori philosophy and decided that I wanted to become a trained Montessori Guide. This decision led me to Westminster College, where I have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and earned my Montessori credential. I am supported and strengthened by teachers, colleagues, and family; all of whom have helped me develop and challenged me to grow to my full potential. In the future, I have big plans for this garden. I hope to expand even further as I pursue a graduate degree and maybe even a doctorate. Within this portfolio, you will see my growth in the professional teaching standards, my development as a teacher, and my passion as an advocate. Enjoy!
